Feral Pest Control - Wild Dog Management & SUPPORT

Introduction:

At Feral Pest  Control, we specialise in providing tailored wild dog management solutions to protect your livestock and native wildlife. Our team utilises a range of proven techniques, including ground shooting and approved trapping methods, to effectively target problem animals. We understand that each property presents unique challenges, which is why our approach is strategic and customised to your specific terrain and animal behaviour. With our expert monitoring and use of trail cameras, we ensure ongoing assessment and adaptation of control measures to maximise results and minimise ongoing issues.

Background:

Wild dogs can have a significant impact on livestock, agricultural production, native wildlife and rural properties, with individual problem animals capable of causing substantial stock losses and ongoing pressure for landholders.

Management:

Effective wild dog management requires a strategic and targeted approach, with control measures selected according to the property, terrain, level of activity and behaviour of the animals.

  • Use of precision firearms for long range targeting on large properties.
  • Thermal and night vision capability during period of darkness to detect, approach and engage to provide best practice results.
  • A combination of the use of livestock carcass already attacked as a decoy/ feed station to monitor and quickly engage them when active at the site.

Feral Pest Control Methodology:

  •  Professional wild dog control using targeted ground shooting and approved padded or soft-jaw leg-hold trapping, particularly where individual problem dogs need to be located and removed.
  • Trapping can be an effective tool for targeting specific animals, including dogs that have avoided other control measures,
  • While ground shooting can be used to target known problem animals where conditions allow. Our approach can incorporate trail cameras, monitoring and field observations to identify wild dog activity and help determine the most appropriate control strategy.

Safety & Welfare:

All trapping and firearm operations are undertaken by experienced operators with a strong focus on animal welfare, safety, accurate record keeping and compliance with relevant legislation and best-practice pest management guidelines.
